A Chess computer with LCD info ideal for beginners and chess enthusiasts.

MAIN RADIO SHACK PARTNER 1680X VERSION A GAME CHARACTERISTICS:

    • 64 levels of play, strength including handicap levels, revolutionary new fun levels and a puzzle level.
    • Large LCD shows chess pieces and moves, set-up, depth of search, take-back, check/mate/draw status.
    • RANK AND FILE BOARD LIGHTS -- let you easily see where a piece came from and where it should go during a move.
    • Contains 8 built-in study positions to help you improve your knowledge of chess - try to solve them with the computer’s help.
    • Coach levels which warn you when your pieces are in danger.
    • Mate search level up to mate-in-4.
    • Openings book describes the major openings.
    • Take-back and set-up capabilities.
    • Stop anytime you like! The game memory retains your unfinished game until you play again (depending on batteries).
    • LCD contrast control.
    • Built-in storage compartment.
    • Table-top style: an elegant and versatile chess computer, at home and when traveling.
    • Jack for optional A/C adapter.
    • Requires 4 x AA batteries (not included).

The main difference between Radio Schack Partner 1680X Model 60-2428 and Model 60-2428A are the way the playing levels are used. The later 1996 Model 60-2428A version is more user friendly in this respect. The play behavior is likely different between these two computers because of the way these play levels are differently designed.
